Earnings flow across state and county boundaries
The Bureau of Economic Analysis provides gross commuters' flow of wages earned at a place of work in one geographic area to the workers' residences in other areas. For data on the positive or negative flow of earnings into or out of each county in Minnesota by commuters, select "30 Residence adjustment" and "Minnesota" in Step 2.

Effective tax rates
Data on the effective share of taxes paid by each income decile of Minnesota's households, compiled for the annual Tax Incidence Study by the Minnesota Department of Revenue.

Employment and labor force trends
Employment and labor force data from the local area unemployment statistics (LAUS) for the state, counties, large cities and various regions, by month. This data is provided by Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).

Employment outlook projections
Which industries and occupations are expected to grow and which are expected to shrink over the next decade by region, state and the nation. Provided by DEED.

Income distribution
Trends in Minnesota's income distribution from 1980 to 2007. Provided by the Minnesota State Demographic Center.

Industry establishments, employment and wage trends
Unemployment insurance filings are aggregated into the Quarterly Current Employment and Wages (QCEW) data series with information on establishments, employment and wages by industry. Provided by DEED.

Industry sales, payroll, establishments and employment
Sales and employment data by industry. Provided by the U.S. Census Economic Census.

Job vacancies
Job Vacancy Survey data identifying the number, location, occupation, industry, wage and other characteristics of open-for-hire job vacancies. Provided by DEED.

Labor force projections
Quick access to labor force projections 2000-2035 by county, region, and for the state overall. Provided by the Minnesota State Demographic Center.

Occupations in demand
A list of occupations that are most in demand by region and for the state overall. Provided by DEED.

Price of government
Regular reports on the price of state and local government for Minnesota residents. Provided by Minnesota Management and Budget, a state agency.

Purchasing power profile
Purchasing power data for common consumer items by zip code for 100 metropolitan areas, including the Minneapolis-St. Paul 11-county area. Uses Decennial Census and consumer expenditure survey data to construct estimates. Provided by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Employment and Training Institute.

State of Working America Data Library
Up-to-date and comprehensive historical data on the American labor force, including wages, inequality, and other economic indicators over time and among demographic groups. Compiled from Economic Policy Institute analysis of government data sources.

A quarterly, interactive barometer of the health of America’s 100 largest metropolitan economies produced by the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings.

DataFinder Cafe (Metro GIS)
An interactive tool for viewing and downloading GIS data sets. It allows you to download data sets by custom geographic extents or selections. The Cafe also allows you to browse GIS land use and attribute mapping data sets. Knowledge of GIS is required.
